RUN AROUND THE WALLS OF TROY LIKE THEY’RE JERICHO’S, Jason Arment

Run Around the Walls of Troy Like They’re Jericho’s
by Jason Arment

The talk of bread & circus
as parlance is not only as
nauseating as it is anemic
but the pseudo intellectuals

bleating of sheep, lowing cattle
in a darkness not of pitch
but the touch of laughter
tinkling razor back

& forth on the glass
mean-spiritedness
& other truly hopeless
acts of insecurity

manifest destiny, beg
a coward’s way out
not the elegant egress
of a thick blood trail
